They shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more (Isaiah, 2.4).

Welcome at Selected Topics in Public International Law website. The website of the 7 Credits Optional Course Selected Topics in Public International Law at the Law School in the University of Catania.

There’s no need to stress  the importance of Public International Law today.
Issues of global law and justice are at the forefront of public debates to a greater degree than ever before, because Public International Law today  impacts and shapes decisions by States to a greater degree than ever before.

Public International Law penetrates into the national legal order – often through national court decisions – to give rights to individuals and corporations to an extent that is unrivalled in the history of the subject.

The School of Law at the University of Catania  firmly wants to provide her graduates with the understanding and ability to allow them both to  gain jobs dealing with international law  in governments, inter-governmental and   non-governmental organizations, but also in law firms specializing in international issues.

These aims are pursued through international law course, and above all, the Selected Topics in Public International Law Course (STiPIL Course) and the Centre of Research on International Organizations (CRIO)
