The Seventh Conference of the International Network on Transformative
Employment and Labour Law (INTELL 7) will be held from Friday,
March 26, to Monday, March 29, 2004, at Ritsumeikan University
in Kyoto, Japan.
INTELL's purpose is "to encourage international
discussion and comparative investigation of labour law",
but as indicated by the use of 'transformative' in the organization's
name, INTELL is characterized by a critical view of the traditional
labour law order and the search for new directions. This is an
open network which, within the scope of this broad orientation,
welcomes participants with diverse academic methods and philosophical
standpoints.
The theme of the Conference is: Labour Law without
Boundaries? - New Directions for Labour Law in the 21st Century.
This is the first conference to be held in Asia. According to
conventional wisdom, there are difficult-to-surmount geographical
and cultural 'boundaries' separating Asia from the West and other
regions, but is that really true?
At this conference we would like to consider this matter of 'boundaries'
in labour law and related areas and we hope that INTELL 7 will
be able to focus on the destabilization of traditional boundaries
in labour law and related areas, with a look toward "new
directions " as an attempt to move forward.
