Conflicting Approaches to International Law.
An Historical and Theoretical Perspective

(STiPIL Course 2010)
 

The Selected Topics in Public International Law Course (STiPIL Course) is a 7 credits Optional Course offered for the Academic Year 2010-2011  (First Semester October-December 2010), dealing with Conflicting Approaches to International Law. An Historical and Theoretical Perspective.

The Course is organized jointly with the CRIO Workshop Program 2010/2011 and covers the following topics:

The Revival of Theoretical Approaches to International Law. Schmitt vs. Kelsen. A clash between territorialist vs. non territorialist approaches?

Habermas and Post- National Constitutionalism Legal Order and Legal System. The role of Legitimacy The incompletion of law. A foucauldian perspective.

A detailed syllabus will be available at the beginning of the Course.
 
Students will be expected to have done the reading prior to the seminars in order to be able to discuss the issues raised.

Examination will consist of  discussion of a Final Paper (not exceeding 10,000 words).

Deadline for registration October, 11th 2010 through the administrative secretariat while enrolling for the courses.

Students from our School of Law or senior law students wishing to attend this course on a free basis are requested to enrol on line..
